Silolona is an authentic, 50m wooden vessel that has been designed as a modern classic version of the ancient "Phinisi" trading ships, built in the ancestral traditions of Konjo boat builders and featuring their hallmark black sails. Offering journeys throughout her home base of Indonesia and extending as far as southern Thailand and Myanmar the beauty of the islands she explores is legendary, their bio-diversity astounding, the rich tapestry of their cultures and the warmth of their people, combined with majestic scenery, underwater wonders and fascinating artistic expression combine to make truly memorable experiences.
The interior design of the five luxurious staterooms, each with private en-suite shower room, are styled on a selection of Indonesian islands, beautifully showcasing their individual art and cultures including Bali, Asmat, Java, Borneo and Sumba. There is an extensive choice of private relaxation, sitting and dining areas including a spacious, teak lounge & formal dining room and an alfresco deck where guests can enjoy the most exquisite Asian fusion cuisine created by the 5-Star Chef.
On board Silolona, you will explore the little known yet fascinatingly diverse, island cultures east of Bali. From Komodo dragons, "ikat" textiles, volcanic crater lakes to war dances, covering, in-depth, the ancient cultures rimming the Savu Sea. Each dawn will reveal a new island landscape and a different culture, perhaps a gently smouldering volcano, the craggy peaks of Komodo or a sleepy native harbour bustling with traditional fishing craft and local inter- island schooners.
To allow for a full days' activities on shore, Silolona usually sails at night and anchors during the day for cultural excursions or water activities. Most of the islands are blessed with deserted white sand beaches, transparent turquoise waters and stunning coral reefs waiting to be explored. Each day you will have the opportunity to snorkel, swim, fish, dive, or simply stroll a deserted stretch of beach.
The dedicated, Indonesian crew of 17 on board Silolona offers some of the most gracious hospitality in the region and includes an expedition leader, dive master and 5-star Chef. With their intimate knowledge of the areas that Silolona cruises, all guests are assured of a memorable journey and truly outstanding service from the loyal crew members, totally committed to the success of your trip.
