Villa Roula is a 4 bedroom villa in Crete which can sleep up to 12 guests. It is located in the delightful village of Maroulas on the Western side of the island overlooking the bay of Rethymnon. This historic village offers a couple of tavernas and traditional Greek cafes. There is a taverna near the villa and a supermarket is 1km away. Maroulas is approximately 8kms from the region’s capital, Rethymnon, also the third largest town in Crete. The lively resort of Platanias with its long sandy beach is approximately 3kms away. Guests can choose to fly in to Chania or Heraklion international airports, which are similar distances away.

Guests are advised to hire a car to explore the area, but there is a public bus service to Rethymnon which is worth a visit. Rethymnon combines old town charm and history preserving much of its Venetian and Turkish influences including the enchanting Venetian harbour, ideal for evening dining or a morning/afternoon coffee. Then behind the harbour and the fortress, which is photographed by many, are the small, narrow, pedestrian streets with shops, bars, eating places and charming old buildings. Western Crete has something for everyone whether you seek activity or relaxation, there are gorges to be walked, ancient sites to be visited, time trodden villages to be discovered, and beautiful sandy beaches to relax upon
