La Fraissinède is located in the heart of the Corbières, it is an extraordinary, luxury country villa in France offering 6 bedrooms and incorporates stylish, modern décor with the ambience and character of its former life as a wine barn. The local village of Montlaur is close by, you could cycle in less than 10 minutes or walk to in about 20 minutes or by car in less than 5 minutes. There is a bakery, butcher and pharmacy.

With the total recent renovation of two new guest bedrooms, to include marble ensuite bathrooms in style with the rest of the house, a new two bedroom staff annexe, a new drive and gates, sumptuous external seating areas and extensive new landscaping, the house is more luxurious and extraordinary than ever. All six en suite bedrooms now boast immaculate interior design, and the latest technology with flat screen TVs and Iphone docs.

The setting for La Fraissinede is stunning, amongst 120 acres of surrounding countryside with wonderful views, spacious accommodation sleep up to 14 guests in six double en-suite bedrooms including a magnificent master suite with dressing rooms, there are open-plan entertaining areas, various terraces, a tranquil courtyard, a tennis court and large heated pool. La Fraissinède is a great choice in winter for the Pyrénées or some French sunshine in the summer and can provide additional services to suit each guests’ requirement such as extra housekeeping, chef, butler and driver are available upon request. The villa is an ideal base to explore the mysteries of the Cathar country, with its secrets of Rennes le Chateau, or enjoy sparkling Mediterranean beaches, the walled city of Carcassonne and the languid Canal du Midi — all within 30 minutes drive.

This luxury villa near Carcasonne sits in one of the most beautiful valleys of the French Languedoc and has been tastefully transformed to provide the ideal family holiday villa.

The interiors are contemporary but blend well with the 18th century working fireplace,the large windows and doors maximizing the light from the long summer days and offering excellent views of the valley and mountainsides both indoors and out.

The accommodation is on two flooors :

Downstairs is the main living areas:
This floor flows from one room to the next in a wonderful open plan design – with tiled floor, under floor heating, high ceilings with huge wooden beams which are a feature through this new section of the house.
At one end is the formal lounge with huge picture windows, a large feature fireplace with a amazing bar.

The main entrance hallway is in the centre of the ground floor – cloakroom, great space for entertaining, high ceilings and the gallery landing from the upstairs bedrooms overlook this area.
The fabulous and very large professional kitchen is at the other end of the ground floor – 2 islands with hob and stools around – very sociable area for people to gather – there is a large wooden dining table and also a  TV den with seating, soft cushions, flat screen TV, DVD, Freeview . The windows and doors are all round the kitchen taking full advantage of the incling sunshine and the views. There is an outdoor dining area just off the kitchen with large wooden table and chairs.

There are four bedrooms on the first-floor of the main house situated around a dramatic atrium, from which the staircase sweeps to the main floor.

Upper level :

All the upper level bedrooms have C/fans, Flat screen wall mounted TV, freeview and DVD – robes in the bathrooms - Two of the bedrooms have baths and all have walk-in showers.
On the right of the upstairs rear entrance (next to Bed 4) leads to part of the original house - the Garden wing :

Here are two bedrooms situated on either side of a large family sitting room and both overlook the swimming pool and garden. Both bedrooms have walk-in showers, satellite television, DVD players

The less-formal sitting/games room has a dressing up box, table football, piano, TV, DVD with library of DVD’s to choose from and doors leading to the garden and pool. This ia great casual play for all the family to enjoy
The ground floor of the main house and garden wing have direct access to the landscaped gardens, pool area, sheltered courtyard and all weather tennis courts.

Steps from the outdoor dining patio lead to the pool. It is a very large rectangular pool with seating and shaded pergoda .The private pool measures approx 15 metres and has an electric cover and a thermal exchange heating system (not required in summertime).

What to do locally:

Culture – the annual Carcassonne summer festival , one of the premier events in southern France with music festivals and the Ceret Museum of Modern Art exhibits the works of Picasso, Chagall, Matisse, Miro and many others.

Food and wine – the surrounding area is covered with vines so there are excellent local wines to try. There is a wide choice of restaurants in the area addressing every level of sophistication.

Golf – an international-standard golf course in Carcassonne with great views of the old Cité

Walking – the hillsides have many easy trails to enjoy the splendid scenery and explore the ancient ruins that dot the area. There are also a number of waterfalls and swimming lakes.

Riding – commercial stables and equestrian centres are nearby and horses can be provided on the property by prior arrangement.

Sea – the beaches of La Franqui and Leucate are nearby and offer great sand as well as wind and kite surfing. Further south there is the classic resort of Collioure and the beginning of the Spanish costas.

Mountain Biking – mountain bikes are available at the villa and the terrain is ideal for all levels of experience and energy.

Air tours – the Baptême de l'air is a light plane tour from the airstrip by Lezignan-Corbières that lets you see the main castles in hours rather than days.
